Kent Meridian High School Invasive Species Removal Project
The player will show in this paragraph
As part of their EE Week 2010 activities, students at Kent Meridian High School in Kent, Wash. removed invasive plant species on campus and replanted the areas with native plants. Students also "adopted" a nearby city park, where students removed trash and helped to improve the habitat for native animals by removing the invasive English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry and planting native trees and shrubs.
"The students take great pride in their projects," said teacher Dianne Thompson. "They have also learned a great deal about team work while working outside to create the native gardens. I believe the students are very motivated by the success of their projects and it becomes a positive experience they enjoy at school."
