Who polluted the James River?

Lynchburg Parks and Recreation's Naturalist Program

Linkhorne Elementary's 4th grade class demonstrate how various pollutants make their way into the watershed. This activity includes the story, "Who polluted The James River?" Students were first introduced to live animals native to The James River. They observed the animals' adaptations and discussed how the adaptations help them survive. As part of the watershed activity they learned about human impact and answered the question, which we all agreed we all polluted The James River. As a reflection project they created a poster displaying their ideas of what the general public can do to minimize impact on the watershed, which was on display in April for Environmental Week and Earth Awareness Day!
